City & Guilds Level 2 Qualification in Working in Medium Risk Confined Spaces:
Water (6150-02)
Duration 2- 3 Days Depending on experience.
Introduction
For persons nominated to work in or at confined spaces where work has been assessed and classified as NC2 or NC3
(Medium Risk) under the Water UK scheme and who require pre-assessment training to prepare them for assessment in
City & Guilds 6150-02.
This is a City & Guilds of London Institute certificated competency based training and assessment course.
Course Content
Along with gaining a sound understanding of the Confined Space Regulations 1997, learners will be able to:
• Prepare to work safely in medium risk confined spaces
• Enter and exit confined spaces safely
• Prepare and use appropriate respiratory protective equipment (RPE) for escape purposes in accordance with
  manufacturers’ specifications
• Use equipment and tools safely and in accordance with manufacturers’ instructions
• Follow procedures and work safely
• Deal with emergencies
• Use appropriate behaviour for working in medium risk confined spaces in the water industry
• Use appropriate water industry knowledge for working in medium risk confined spaces
• Apply relevant water industry standards for working in medium risk confined spaces
Training Information
The course comprises two days training and one day of assessment.
Candidtates should bring their own safety footwear, waterproof clothing, hard hat and working gloves for the practical exercises.
Course tuition will include a high proportion of hands-on demonstrations and practical exercises, supplemented with
classroom based tutorials and pre and post course assessments. The learner will be given the opportunity to show they
can resolve problems through evidence gained during practical exercises.

Delegates attending this course should be physically and mentally fit to withstand the rigours of training.
Training Certification
City & Guilds question papers and practical assessment observation checklists will be submitted upon assessment
completion and certificates will be issued subject to final verification.

Water (6150-03)
Duration 3 Days

Introduction
For persons nominated to work in or at confined spaces where work has been assessed and classified as NC4 (High
Risk) under the Water UK scheme and who require pre-assessment training to prepare them for assessment in City &
Guilds 6150-03.
This is a City & Guilds of London Institute certificated competency based training and assessment course.
Course Content
Along with gaining a sound understanding of the Confined Space Regulations 1997, learners will be able to:
• Interpret the Water UK Confined Spaces classification scheme
• Risk assess residual hazards
• Recognise changing environments
• Prepare to work safely in high risk confined spaces
• Enter and exit confined spaces safely
• Prepare and use self-contained open circuit breathing apparatus in accordance with manufacturers’
  specifications
• Use equipment and tools safely and in accordance with manufacturers’ instructions
• Follow procedures and work safely
• Deal with emergencies
• Use appropriate behaviour for working in high risk confined spaces
• Use appropriate water industry knowledge for working in high risk confined spaces
• Apply relevant water industry standards for working in high risk confined spaces
