BTS PORT TALBOT
BTS Port Talbot was set up in September 1999 to respond to an increasing demand from clients linked to Job Centre Plus and Careers Wales, who needed industrial and construction training courses.

Many clients needed the CCNSG Site Safety Passport to access local and national employment in the steel industry, power stations, chemical plants, the paper industry and building sites.

Initially funded by ILA and ESF projects the demand grew to incorporate a Work Based Learning for Adults contract.

This enabled unemployed people to gain employment or access further training by assisting them in identifying a future occupational focus and providing the necessary skills training through short, intensive individual learning programmes.

BTS at Port Talbot has developed positive working relationships with many parties and this is securing a successful future for many of the learners attending WBLA. The illustrated examples are a clear demonstration of this success.

The BTS WBLA programme was inspected by ESTYN in July 2002 and awarded an outstanding report - click here to download and/or visit ESTYN's official website.
